This is a logo I made for musical artist A Machine Of Loving Grace. He wanted a logo that was both organic and organized, one simple shape but detailed on closer examination. We talked about the Mandelbrot set and fractals in nature i.e. nature acting mathematical or like a program, as a source of inspiration. This relates back to his music, which is electronic, but deals with very organic, human feelings and problems.

I decided to directly reference the artist's name and use a public domain illustration of a human heart (the source of all the veins that act as fractals in our body, and the traditional symbol of love) to create my own kind of fractal. I made the color of the heart green to increase the natural/unnatural feeling of the visual, and superimposed it on itself in varying angles. The result looks like a mandala, a flower, a Celtic knot. A clear symbol to represent A Machine Of Loving Grace.
